Ecole-chercheur "Rethinking plant breeding for a zero-pesticide agriculture" - 13-15 mai 2024 - INRAE Bordeaux

Spring School COST T0P-AGRI-NETWORK “Rethinking plant breeding for a zero-pesticide agriculture” - 13-15th may 2024

T0PAGRI_long

Objectives :

This researcher school will provide a vision of research & innovation frontiers linked to the use of intraspecific and interspecific plant genetic diversity in agroecological crop protection. Beyond the presentation of technological perspectives involving Next Breeding Technologies, this school will illustrate how a range of technical and organisational innovations can also contribute to redesign cropping systems relying on far fewer pesticides. This includes broadening the scope and strategies of breeding programs, using cultivar mixtures, taking advantage of plant microbiomes, and implementing cultivars deployment strategies to enhance resistance durability, among other aspects. This school will be held in the INRAE research center of Bordeaux (France). It will consist of a mix of scientific talks, workshops and visits. The school will also be an opportunity to discover a Bordeaux winery and taste some wines. Attendees are encouraged to present their research activities via a poster session and flash talks.
